Dr. Jim Wempe graduated from Iowa State University in 1980. Looking for adventure, he began his practice career with 7 years in Anchorage, Alaska and then moved to the “Alaskan-Bush” for 3 additional years. Dr. Wempe’s focus in veterinary medicine has always been to enhance the human-animal bond of pets and owners while preventing and treating their illnesses and discomforts.

In 1990 he moved to nearby Port Orchard where he owned Bethel Animal Hospital for 25 years and then briefly practiced at Cedar Creek Animal Hospital. In March of 2016, Dr. Wempe found his new practice home with the friendly and caring staff at Harbor Animal Hospital.

When not in the office, Dr. Wempe enjoys traveling with his family, exploring the mountains, trails and waters of the Northwest.
